Taliban resettlement policy proved ineffective, says Sanaullah after Peshawar bombing

The interior minister of Pakistan, Rana Sanaullah, said the previous policy of resettling and rehabilitating militants of the banned group Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) has proven to be ineffective. The government has adopted a zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism and extremism. The interior minister also said it was incorrect to believe that TTP was separate from the Afghan Taliban and the idea of negotiations leading to submission to the law was mistaken. The current government has changed its approach to the Taliban with a policy aimed at success. Law enforcement agencies are conducting more intelligence-based operations to eliminate terrorists. TTP militants have safe havens in a neighboring country but the minister emphasized the need for dialogue with that country to stop this. The caretaker chief minister of Khyber Pakhutunkhwa declared a day of mourning in the province after the recent mosque attack in Peshawar.
