Bilawal Bhutto, the Chairman of the Pakistan Peoples’ Party and Foreign Minister, performed the groundbreaking ceremony for a new 1,200-bedded Zulfikar Ali Bhutto Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases at Korangi. The ceremony was attended by several ministers, diplomats, and leaders of the PPP.
During his speech, Bilawal Bhutto defended his party’s record of providing free world-class healthcare through a network of hospitals across the province. He also criticized the health card being offered in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, alleging that it was a fraud that gave people’s money to private insurance companies instead of hospitals.
Bilawal Bhutto also rejected the by-election scheduled for Sindh’s local body elections and called on the Sindh Chief Minister and Law Minister to challenge the schedule in the Sindh High Court. He accused certain political parties of delaying the second phase of the elections because they were winning the first phase.
The new ZAB Institute of Cardiovascular Disease, which stretches over 40 acres, will be the world’s largest cardiac center upon completion and will cater to a projected population of 20 million in Karachi and the rest of the country.
