Former US special envoy for Afghanistan Zalmay Khalilzad has called for serious strategising to avert the crises in Pakistan, highlighting political, economic, and security issues being faced by the country. In a tweet, Khalilzad said that arresting Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan would “deepen” the crisis and urged the government to take necessary steps to prevent the country from a meltdown. He also suggested that a date should be decided for national elections in early June and the government should make a plan to rescue the country and put it on a path to stability, security, and prosperity.
