The Pakistani government is considering amending election laws for transparent elections, according to Federal Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar. He said that at least the amendments that have consensus should be included. The statement was made during a conference on electoral transparency jointly hosted by various organizations, including the Centre for Peace and Development Initiatives (CPDI), Coalition for Elections and Democracy (CED), and the Fredrich Naumann Foundation for Freedom. The conference was attended by several politicians, including MQM’s Mustafa Kamal, PPP leader Taj Haider, and Balochistan Awami Party Senator Anwar Kakar. Kamal stated that his party boycotted local government elections in Karachi due to a lack of a transparent census, and Senator Kakar emphasized the need for managing the crisis in holding elections in two provinces.
