Former Prime Minister of Pakistan, Imran Khan, has criticised the state institutions amid the controversy surrounding his arrest in the Toshakhana case. Addressing party workers at his Zaman Park residence in Lahore, Khan denied having kneeled before any person or institution and claimed that he would not let the nation do so. In his speech, Khan also took a dig at the leadership of the ruling Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) alliance, claiming that their legs start shaking if their “names are put on the no-fly list”. He also alleged that the retired army chief Gen Qamar Javed Bajwa imposed a group of criminals on the country through a conspiracy. The Islamabad police had arrived at Khan’s residence to arrest him for failing to appear before the court in the Toshakhana case. However, Khan’s chief of staff claimed that the PTI chief was not present at the residence. Later, PTI leaders, including Yasmin Rashid, Asad Umar, Ejaz Chaudhry, and Shah Mahmood Qureshi, arrived at Khan’s residence, and the party asked its workers to gear up for protests if Khan was arrested.
