Imran Khan doubles down on fighting ‘fascist forces’

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan has criticized the arrest of his party’s Senior Vice-President Fawad Chaudhry, calling the government a “cabal of crooks” and stating that they will not be able to intimidate him or his party into submission. Chaudhry was arrested by the Islamabad police from his residence in Lahore in the early hours of January 25th on a sedition charge after he publicly threatened members of the Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) and their families. His arrest has drawn criticism from senior politicians, a human rights organization and President Dr Arif Alvi. Former chairman of the Senate and leader of the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Mian Raza Rabbani called for the sedition charge to be dropped immediately and for the repeal of Section 124-A of the Pakistan Penal Code.
