‘Incitement against state institutions’ case registered against Qureshi, Fawad

A case has been registered against senior leaders of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Shah Mahmood Qureshi and Fawad Chaudhry, on charges of inciting violence and alleging state institutions’ involvement in a plot to assassinate Imran Khan. The FIR was registered on the complaint of a sub-inspector in Lahore, stating that Qureshi and Fawad held a press conference at Zaman Park in Lahore, in which they provoked people to carry out violence, leading to the blockade of Canal Road, causing difficulties for commuters. The FIR also mentioned that Fawad accused state institutions of hatching an assassination plot against Imran Khan, and perpetrated a crime by disrupting traffic on the road. A non-bailable arrest warrant for Imran Khan was issued in the Toshakhana case, which led to a large number of party workers gathering at Zaman Park, and Fawad warning the government not to arrest Imran Khan. Qureshi had also said that they would consult with their lawyers and announce the next strategy.
