In a recent high-level visit to Kabul, Pakistan and Afghanistan agreed to collaborate in addressing the growing threat of terrorism in the region, particularly from the Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) and the Islamic State – Khorasan Province. The discussions between the two sides focused on security and counter-terrorism matters. However, the Pakistani Foreign Office spokesperson declined to share additional details about the agreements made during the meetings, deeming it a “sensitive matter relating to security and counter-terrorism.” The spokesperson also clarified the situation unfolding at the Torkham border, which has remained closed for the last few days, stating that Pakistan was in contact with Afghanistan to discuss all matters related to the border. Additionally, she declined to comment on statements made by political leaders and the possibility of Pakistan-US dialogue to discuss combating terrorism in March.
