Pakistan reaches out to US Democratic party leader after his meeting with Imran
The Prime Minister Office (PMO) and the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) have reached out to Democratic Party leader Dr. Asif Mahmood regarding a recent statement made by Congressman Brad Sherman about Pakistan’s political situation. The PMO contacted Dr. Asif directly, while Faryal Talpur contacted him on behalf of the PPP. Both expressed concerns about Congressman Sherman’s statement and emphasized the need for Pakistan’s friends during difficult times.
Dr. Asif Mahmood assured the PMO of his support for Pakistan and stated that his friendship is only with Pakistan. He also assured them that he will continue to work for the betterment of Pakistan and human rights. Earlier this month, Dr. Asif had facilitated a conversation between Imran Khan, the chairman of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), and Congressman Brad Sherman.
Congressman Brad Sherman expressed concerns about the rising human rights violations in Pakistan and called for action against those who violate human rights. He also emphasized the importance of allowing citizens to express themselves and hold peaceful protests. However, he clarified that the United States has no interest in meddling in Pakistan’s internal affairs and respects its constitution completely. He also stated that he has no interest in supporting Imran Khan or any political party and has disagreements with him on many issues.
