Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) Senior Vice-President and Chief Organizer Maryam Nawaz has stated that she is not interested in becoming the prime minister or chief minister after the upcoming general elections in Pakistan. During a recent interaction with journalists, she said that her focus is not on these positions and that her son, Junaid, also has no intention of joining politics at this time. Maryam stated that the foundation, identity, and power of her party is based on performance. She also said that PML-N would hold public rallies ahead of the upcoming elections and that the party was setting up its own IT wing to counter the propaganda of their opponents. Maryam referred to Shahid Khaqan Abbasi as her elder brother and stated that she wanted to work under the supervision of her seniors. When asked about the ruling Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM), she said that it cannot be considered an electoral alliance for now. Maryam avoided commenting on the recent controversial statement made by her husband and stated that Nawaz Sharif would soon be back. She emphasized that Nawaz Sharif does politics based on principles and is willing to pay the price for it.
