The Lahore district administration has permitted Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) to stage an election rally in the city following a meeting with the party’s leadership. The meeting was directed by Punjab’s caretaker Chief Minister Mohsin Raza Naqvi, during which the PTI’s leadership submitted an affidavit, assuring the city’s administration of its full cooperation with them, the police, and security officials. The PTI had postponed its election rally earlier in the day after the interim government refused to lift Section 144. The rally, which will be led by Imran Khan, will be the first he has led in more than four months, as he was recovering from an injury he sustained last year. The general elections in Punjab are scheduled to be held on April 30, while the date for the polls in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa is yet to be announced.
