Model Bella Hadid, a Palestinian-American, Bollywood superstar Shahrukh Khan, and the Iranian reporters covering the Mahsa Amini case are also included.
Sherry Rehman, our very own Federal Minister for Climate Change, is listed among the 100 Most Influential People in TIME Magazine’s most recent issue.
The distinguished annual list includes names of individuals from all over the world and is divided into six categories: pioneers, titans, artists, inventors, and leaders. In the section about leaders, Rehman is listed.
Rehman was named to the list for her efforts to alleviate and raise awareness of the most serious issue facing the globe. Rehman received a letter from Jennifer Morgan, state secretary for foreign affairs and special ambassador for worldwide climate action for Germany, thanking her for her efforts to raise awareness of the climate crisis on a global scale.
Rehman offered those who had lost everything in the floods a voice. She persuaded many of the delegates that the egregious injustice had to end through passionate speeches and persistent participation in discussions. At the conclusion of COP27, the international community made history by deciding to create new loss and damage funding arrangements in order to assist the most vulnerable nations.
“While this is a significant step towards climate justice, there is still more work to be done. Along the road, we’ll need more folks like Sherry Rehman,” Morgan wrote.
Rehman is now listed for the first time, but she has previously received praise for her work. She was listed among the 25 Most Influential Women by the Financial Times.
