The Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakistan (TLP) has called for a countrywide shutter down strike in Pakistan on Monday to protest against the skyrocketing inflation and recent increase in prices of petroleum products. Hotels and shops have been closed in various areas of Karachi, including Kharadar, Burns Road, Old City, Etihad Town, Baldia Town, and surrounding areas. However, traffic is operating as per usual. Many schools in the port city have also remained closed due to the uncertain situation. Protesters have blocked roads in different areas by burning tires and placing barriers. Trade activities have also remained suspended in areas of Dadu, Mirpur Mathelo, Obaro, Daharki, Ghotki, and Khuzdar. The TLP had announced the strike call earlier. However, the local traders in Haripur have decided to keep their shops open, saying that joining such protests would add to the hardships of traders who are already badly affected by the economic crisis in the country.
