The Torkham border crossing between Pakistan and Afghanistan has remained closed for the fifth day, with no known reason despite various rounds of talks and the Taliban’s agreement to reopen it. The closure has led to long queues of passengers and loaded trucks waiting outside the Federal Investigation Agency and customs offices on both sides of the border, with no notification of the reopening of the border. Members of the Tanzeem-e-Naujawanan Qabail have arranged cooked food for stranded passengers, many of whom are Afghan citizens, including children and women. Some Afghan families travelled to the Torkham border but returned to Peshawar and Landikotal due to the cold weather at Torkham.
