Toshakhana case: Imran Khan’s arrest warrant challenged in IHC
The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has challenged the non-bailable arrest warrant for former prime minister Imran Khan in the Islamabad High Court (IHC), which was upheld by a district and sessions court. The warrant was issued last month in the Toshakhana case due to Khan’s persistent absences in case hearings. The PTI lawyers argue that the orders are against the law and passed by ignoring the peculiar circumstances of the case. They also state that the orders have prejudiced Khan’s liberty and that he is facing serious health issues and life threats that prevent him from appearing before the court. The lawyers request the court to set aside the impugned orders and afford Khan a fair opportunity to appear and defend himself in the best interest of justice.
